Why Sawley Lock O’Callaghan?

Sawley Lock O’Callaghan operates from an office at Prospect in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. We provide professional consulting services in the fields of surveying, property development, spatial Information for Infrastructure projects, and project management.

Our team provides services for projects across the state of South Australia, particularly in the areas of Adelaide and surrounds the Mid-North and Flinders areas, and the Riverland.

We take pride in delivering professionalism and quality personal service. We are very proud of the relationships that we have built with our clients, delivering projects for a diverse range of customers from homeowners and farmers to land developers and real estate professionals. Both local and state government agencies, along with allied professionals such as engineers, architects, planners, and builders, are also a part of our valued clientele.

The origins of our firm can be traced back to 1962 when surveyors Frank Sawley and Bryant Lock formed the firm of Sawley Lock and Associates, and indeed to 1959 when Barry O’Callaghan formed B.T. O’Callaghan and Associates. In more recent years, that firm was the partnership of Barry and his son, Michael, until the merger with Sawley Lock in 2003. The firm gained a reputation in estate development over a lengthy period and was awarded the Urban Development Institute of Australia prize in residential design for the Spring Park Farm Estate in Littlehampton in 1995.

Sawley Lock O’Callaghan continues to professional services for land divisions (both Torrens and Community Title), boundary surveys, site surveys (detail and contour surveys), construction set-out surveys, Lease plans, easement plans, applications under the Roads (Opening and Closing) Act and numerous other surveying and spatial information services.

Sawley Lock and Associates and B.T. O’Callaghan and Associates traded separately until the merger of our firms in 2003 in an endeavour to provide a more diverse range of services to clients. Our firm of Sawley Lock O’Callaghan now lies under principles, Damian Brogden and Max Sayer who have both founded our current legal entity, Sawley Lock Pty Ltd in 2002.  The principles have both been in private practice for 35 years and have wide expertise in all aspects of professional consulting surveying.

Sawley Lock O’Callaghan is a long-established South Australian firm based at Prospect in the inner northern suburbs of Adelaide. The origins of our firm can be traced back over 60 years and we have been providing professional surveying and consulting services in South Australia over that time.

The present team of professional surveyors has a great deal of experience in the industry and in the provision of specialist advice to clients. We successfully assist our clients in regard to land divisions, boundary surveys, site surveys (detail and contour surveys), construction set-out surveys, and many other services including providing advice and solutions for land development and titling projects.

Our experienced team includes licensed surveyors and specialist project managers, and it is our aim to provide our clients with reliable, personal, and professional service, that results in quality solutions and outcomes including value for money. If you engage our team for your project, you can be confident that we will work efficiently and effectively for you.

We are efficient because in our team we have our project managers, administration staff, plan drafters, and professional surveyors all under the one roof. We don’t have to go outside of the firm for the preparation of your plans or for the hiring of field surveyors, because we do it all here at Sawley Lock O’Callaghan.

Our Licensed Surveyors are all educated to a degree level at a minimum, and they undertake to continue professional development programs in accordance with the requirements of both the Surveyors Board of South Australia and the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute.

My recent personal experience was very positive - Shaun Turnbull prepared a site survey required for a DA to be lodged with PlanSA and his attention to detail and accuracy was exceptional. I worked with Shaun on site in Ashton to find survey pegs on a hilly and "overgrown" area adjacent a very old fence line to prepare for the site survey to locate a precise site for a new agricultural shed. Shaun's patience and determination were a credit to him. This was not the first experience with Sawley Lock O'Callaghan - Damian Brogden had previously assisted me to re-align boundaries on a residential allotment at Cheltenham - delivering the same high quality work underpinned by attention to detail and accuracy.

When I first called I wasn’t too sure as the person seemed a little uninterested but they provided a fast quote at a reasonable cost and were able to schedule the job to be completed in 1 week where other places I called were much more costly and wouldn’t be able to do the job for at least 6 weeks. All details, documents and invoices were sent through within the same day of the job being completed. Quite happy overall with the service. Would recommend.
